20171016 Tzu Chi Santa Rosa Fires Response Update
Fire Updates:
“Turned Corner” yesterday with fires. Cautiously optimistic and major area of Santa Rosa now safe. Sonoma evacuations lifted also. Biggest positive day since the beginning of the event.
As containment figures have increased, many of the evacuations across the fires in Northern California have been lifted. Over 40,000 people remain evacuated, but many of the evacuation orders are being reevaluated.
All Red Flag Warnings have been lifted. (positive weather outlook)
Shelters:
689 people in 4 shelters in Santa Rosa. All needs met.
LAC:
- Day 2 of Santa Rosa LAC Attendance. 800 families processed by LAC and 63 Case Management Intakes performed by Tzu Chi (Total to date).
- Generally speaking, largest and most valuable need is a modest amount of financial assistance to cover a “GAP” from now until processing and receipt of State/Federal Assistance (FEMA, Unemployment, SBA, etc.)
- Damage Vetting Tool: City of Santa Rosa Damage Locator per address: https://santarosa.maps.arcgis.com/apps/PublicInformation/index.html?appid=478994a6534e486db5fb2e6313fe213c
