20171018 Tzu Chi Santa Rosa Fires Response Update
Fire Updates:
Nearly 10,000 firefighters continue making progress on 13 large wildfires burning in the State that combined have burned over 210,000 acres. Cooler temperatures and increased humidity overnight have aided firefighters in their efforts. While many of the evacuation orders have been lifted in Northern California, over 22,000 people remain out of their homes due to the fires. The death toll increased to 42 late yesterday after authorities located another victim of the Tubbs Fire in Sonoma County.
Weather conditions this week will continue to help in the containment progress. In fact, light rain in Northern California is forecast for Thursday night.
Shelters:
389 people in 4 shelters in Santa Rosa. All needs met.
LAC:
- 3200 families processed to date at Santa Rosa LAC
- Tzu Chi Case count: 125
A Mini LAC is being set up in the City of Sonoma by FEMA. Officials took our local contact info and said that they will be sure to include Tzu Chi in a list of available resources. (Non-profits are not personally attending this mini-LAC).
