It is the ninth day of the fire. The recovery effort has been started. However, it is going to take a while. A whole community effort is required.

Fire by the numbers:

  1. major fires: 14
  2. acres burned: 213,000 (~ size of San Diego)
  3. fatality: 41
  4. structures destroyed or damaged: 5,700+
  5. evacuees in shelters: 3,600
  6. shelters: 39

Resources have been deployed,

  1. 880 fire engines + 200+ out-of-state fire engines
  2. 10,000 firefighters
  3. 134 bulldozers
  4. 27 national guard aircrafts
  5. 11 firefighting helicopters + 34 federal firefighting helicopters
  6. 5 large air tankers + 15 federal large air tankers
  7. 2 DC-10 very large air tankers
  8. 6 military helicopters
  9. 2,100 national guards
  10. 425 law enforcement officers
  11. 196 CHP officers

There is about 3,600 population in 39 shelters. Commodities have been distributed,

  1. 40,320 meals
  2. 60,000 liters of water
  3. 2,000 ADA compliance cots
  4. 12,000 blankets
  5. 100,000 N95 masks
